The C930's fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded cell. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a calibration mismatch. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles. The fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the actual voltage curve of the new cell, and the early shutdowns stop.
BIOS reporting new battery health as poor or unknown
When the old cell is removed, the BIOS loses the EEPROM data it used to track battery age and health history. The replacement cell arrives with a clean EEPROM, and the BIOS interprets that as a degraded or unrecognised unit. Lenovo Vantage may show a red health indicator or flag the battery as "replace soon" on the very first boot. Complete the full discharge-to-hibernate calibration cycle described above. After one complete cycle, the BIOS repopulates its battery learn data and the health warning clears.
