- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the A9 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the vacuum's charge management circuit, and no overcurrent trips occurred during motor start-up or sustained suction load on carpet.
- Dock charging behaviour on the A9: Remove the vacuum from the charging dock once the indicator shows full. The A9 dock does not cut trickle current cleanly, and cells left on continuous dock charge lose measurable capacity within a few months. Charge only when depleted, then disconnect.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS expects — usually caused by a partially blocked filter or brush roll restriction, not a failing battery. The BMS reads the voltage sag from that elevated draw as a low-charge condition and throttles motor power early. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for hair wrap before replacing the battery. A clear airpath keeps motor current inside the BMS's rated window and restores full suction.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and restarts after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. Sustained restricted airflow — blocked filter, full dustbin, or tangled brush — pushes motor draw past the pack's overcurrent threshold. The BMS disconnects the output to protect the cells, then resets after a brief cooldown. Clear the filter and empty the bin first. If the cutout persists on an unobstructed vacuum, check that pack voltage reads at least 24V under load with a multimeter at the terminal.
