About this replacement
LG G Pad X 8.3 / G Pad III 8.0 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL-T17)
This is a 3.8V, 4800mAh lithium-polymer replacement battery for the LG G Pad X 8.3 (VK815) and G Pad III 8.0 tablets. It replaces OEM part numbers BL-T17 and EAC6278301. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds a full charge or fails to power the device entirely.
- G Pad X 8.3 and G Pad III 8.0 compatibility: Both tablets share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell fits both. The flat Li-Polymer pouch measures 155.60 × 86.30 × 3.80mm and seats flush in either chassis without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a G Pad X 8.3 test unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the new cell without triggering a protection cutoff. Charge acceptance started immediately at full current on the first cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after installation: After fitting this battery, run the tablet down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before using it again. This resets the fuel gauge IC against the new cell's capacity curve and clears the inaccurate percentage readings that appear after any battery swap.
Why the G Pad X 8.3 shuts down between 15% and 25% remaining
The G Pad X 8.3 runs its display and WiFi radio simultaneously at high brightness, and that combined load pulls a sharp current spike that drops cell voltage fast. An aged or uncalibrated cell hits the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge reaches 0%. The tablet reads 20% but the actual cell voltage has already collapsed to the cutoff point. One full discharge-to-shutoff followed by a complete uninterrupted charge cycle retrains the fuel gauge and eliminates the early cutoff on most units.
Fast charging not available after battery swap on the G Pad X 8.3
The G Pad X 8.3 charge IC uses a handshake with the charger and the battery BMS before unlocking higher charge rates. On a freshly installed cell, that negotiation sometimes defaults to standard 5V charging until one full cycle completes. If fast charging is absent after the swap, complete one full discharge-to-shutoff and a full uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that cycle, reconnect the original charger — the charge IC re-negotiates and fast charging resumes. Confirm the fast-charge icon appears within 30 seconds of plugging in.
