LG Optimus G2 / D802TA — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BL-T7)
This is a 3.8V, 3000mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the LG Optimus G2 and its regional variants, including the D802TA, DS1203, and G2 L-01F. It replaces the original BL-T7 cell when the existing battery no longer holds voltage under load or fails to power the device through a normal day. Capacity is 11.4Wh, matching the OEM spec.
- G2 variant compatibility: The D802TA, DS1203, and L-01F all share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake as the standard Optimus G2. All draw from the same 3.8V rail, so one cell covers the full family without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on an Optimus G2. The BMS accepted charge current without fault, the fuel gauge IC tracked state-of-charge correctly after one full cycle, and the cell held voltage through high-draw screen-on periods without tripping the protection circuit.
- First-cycle fuel gauge reset: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC on the G2 is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Giving it one full cycle against the new cell lets it rebuild its reference before high-current charging begins.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Optimus G2 after a cell swap
This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. When the G2's modem, display, and CPU pull current simultaneously, a new cell with an uncalibrated fuel gauge can hit the BMS low-voltage cutoff before the reported percentage reaches zero. The phone shuts down because the cell voltage drops below the protection threshold under load, even though the OS still shows charge remaining. To clear it, run two full discharge-charge cycles without fast charging — this forces the coulomb counter to re-anchor its low-end voltage reference to the new cell's actual curve.
Phone warm near the battery during the first few charges after replacement
A new Li-Polymer cell typically has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell. The charge IC on the G2 pushes a fixed current rate regardless, which generates more heat across a higher-impedance cell until it cycles in. This is normal for the first three to five charge cycles and resolves as impedance drops. If the phone stays warm past cycle five or the case becomes hot to the touch, check that the replacement cell is seated flat — any flex in the pouch creates localised resistance and sustained heat.
