LumaPro 6CGL3 / 6CGL4 — 4.8V Ni-Cd Replacement Battery (48H465)
This is a 4.8V, 300mAh Ni-Cd replacement battery for the LumaPro 6CGL3 and 6CGL4 emergency lighting units. It restores backup illumination capability when mains power fails. The cell matches the voltage rail, connector, and physical envelope of the original factory-fitted pack.
- 6CGL3 and 6CGL4 compatibility: Both models run the same 4.8V charge circuit and use the same two-pin connector format. The cell dimensions — 44.00 × 20.70 × 20.70mm — fit the battery bay on both units without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and load test on compatible hardware. The charge controller accepted the cell without fault, floated correctly at termination, and the BMS registered no overcurrent events during the discharge phase.
- First-cycle test requirement: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This confirms the new cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register capacity before the next scheduled compliance inspection.
Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation
A freshly installed Ni-Cd cell typically comes off storage at a lower resting voltage than the charge controller expects for float acceptance. The controller interprets this as a fault or a deeply discharged pack and holds the red indicator while it applies a conditioning charge. This is normal for the first 12–24 hours. If the indicator has not shifted to green after 24 hours on mains, check that terminal contact is firm and measure cell voltage — it should read at or above 4.8V at full charge.
Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement
A new Ni-Cd cell does not deliver rated capacity on its first activation — this is a chemistry characteristic, not a defect. The cell needs at least one complete charge-discharge cycle before it reaches the 300mAh figure. If the fitting cuts out early during a compliance test run too soon after installation, allow a full 24-hour charge period and run a manual test cycle before the formal inspection. After that conditioning cycle, the cell should sustain the rated illumination duration at the specified load.
