Parent unit battery draining overnight on the Grand Elite
Running the Grand Elite parent unit with the screen active all night is a sustained draw that a 1000mAh cell handles, but screen-on with VOX disabled accelerates drain noticeably. The Grand Elite's display backlight draws continuous current — the same circuit that powers wireless reception. Enable the screen timeout function in the parent unit menu so the display cuts after a set period. The radio link stays active; only the backlight drops out, reducing overnight current draw significantly.
Reduced wireless range after fitting a new battery
The Grand Elite's radio transmitter output is voltage-sensitive — at low state of charge, the parent unit scales back transmission power to protect the cell. If range drops immediately after a battery swap, the cell likely shipped at storage voltage, not full charge. Connect the parent unit to mains and charge completely before testing range. At full charge, the radio circuit runs at rated voltage and range returns to normal.
