Why the Platinum 2 parent unit drains overnight with the screen on
Running the Platinum 2 through the night with the screen active is a sustained high draw — the display, wireless receiver, and IR detection all pull current simultaneously. A degraded original cell cannot sustain this load, and the unit shuts off before morning. A fresh 1000mAh cell handles the combined draw, but enabling the screen timeout in the display settings extends charge life significantly. Check the Platinum 2 menu for the auto-screen-off option and set it to the shortest interval you can tolerate.
Night vision not working after battery replacement
The Platinum 2 camera unit uses infrared LEDs that require stable voltage from the camera's own supply — but the parent unit's receiver IR detection circuit also has a minimum voltage threshold. If night vision appears absent immediately after fitting a new parent unit battery, the cell likely needs a full charge before the IR display circuit operates correctly. Plug the parent unit in and charge to 100% before testing night mode. If the camera-side IR LEDs are the issue, that is a camera unit power problem, not the parent unit battery.
