Charging errors on a new pack almost always come down to contact resistance at the dock pins, not a fault in the battery or charger. Debris, oxidation, or a slight misalignment between the pack and cradle contacts raises resistance enough for the charger to flag the connection. Wipe the gold contacts on both the pack and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat the VX9 firmly until it clicks. If the error clears, the pack was not fully seated — the cradle expects contact resistance below roughly 100mΩ to begin a charge cycle.

During a fast scan burst, the VX9 draws current simultaneously from the imager and the wireless radio. If the pack voltage sags too far under that combined load, the radio drops off first — it has a lower minimum operating voltage than the imager. This appears as a connection drop mid-shift rather than a total shutdown. Check the pack voltage after a burst: if it reads below 10.5V under load, the cells are fatigued and the pack needs replacement. A fresh 3400mAh pack at full charge holds voltage above 11.0V through normal burst cycles.
