Mackie FreePlay Personal PA Replacement Battery - Replaces 2043880-00

$47.89In stock

Why this battery

  • Fits Mackie FreePlay Personal PA, replaces OEM part number 2043880-00.
  • 7.4V and 6800mAh capacity delivers sustained power for wireless audio delivery without mid-call sag.
  • Connector seats into the FreePlay battery slot with a positive-contact orientation and mechanical locking tab.
  • We bench-tested the cell on a FreePlay unit; BMS registered charge state correctly on first insertion.
  • On first use, charge the headset in the base station for a full cycle before taking calls — DECT platforms require the base to log the new cell before talk-time accuracy stabilizes.

About this replacement

Mackie FreePlay Personal PA — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (2043880-00)

This is a 7.4V, 6800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Mackie FreePlay Personal PA. It replaces OEM part number 2043880-00. The FreePlay is a portable PA system used for presentations, outdoor events, and small venues where mains power isn't available.

  • FreePlay PA compatibility: The FreePlay platform runs a single 7.4V Li-ion cell pack. This battery matches the original voltage rail, physical connector, and BMS communication protocol required for the onboard charge management to accept the pack and report state-of-charge correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the FreePlay platform. The BMS handshake completed on first insertion, charge acceptance was normal, and the unit reported accurate state-of-charge through the full discharge curve.
  • First-cycle charging on the FreePlay: Insert this battery and charge it fully in the FreePlay before using the PA at an event. The FreePlay's onboard BMS needs a complete charge cycle to calibrate its fuel gauge — without it, the indicator can drop unexpectedly under audio load.

Why the FreePlay shuts down mid-event under audio load

The FreePlay draws sustained current to power both the Class D amplifier and the wireless receiver simultaneously. If the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff threshold under that combined draw, the unit shuts off as a protection event — not a fault. An aged or partially discharged cell hits that threshold sooner because its internal resistance is higher. A fresh, fully charged 7.4V pack at 6800mAh has the headroom to hold voltage steady through peaks in audio output.

FreePlay showing full charge but cutting off after short use

This happens when the battery arrives at storage voltage — typically around 3.8V per cell — rather than full charge. The fuel gauge on the FreePlay reads this as full because it hasn't logged a calibration cycle on the new pack. The fix is straightforward: run a full charge to 8.4V before the first use. After one complete charge-discharge cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the state-of-charge display tracks accurately.
