Makita CL102DZX Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (194550-6)
This is a 10.8V, 2500mAh Li-ion battery built to fit the Makita CL102DZX cordless vacuum cleaner and other 10.8V slide-pack Makita tools. It matches the original form factor and connector, and slots into the same charging dock as the factory pack. Voltage is 10.8V nominal; capacity is 2500mAh (27Wh).
- 10.8V slide-pack platform: The CL102DZX, JR100DWE, ML100W, and ML101 all share the same 10.8V slide-rail connector and BMS handshake protocol. Makita standardised this form factor across the compact tool range, so one battery pack services the full lineup without an adaptor.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a 10.8V Makita platform and logged BMS behaviour under load. The protection circuit responded correctly to overcurrent events and the cell balance voltage held within spec across all five cells at full charge.
- Vacuum motor cycling care: The CL102DZX motor draws a sharp inrush spike each time the trigger is pulled. Avoid rapid on-off trigger cycling in the first two uses — let the BMS log the inrush profile before relying on the pack for extended sessions.
BMS cutoff on CL102DZX trigger-pull inrush spike
The CL102DZX motor pulls a short high-current spike the instant the trigger closes. On a new or recently stored pack, the BMS overcurrent threshold may trip before the motor reaches running speed, cutting the tool dead mid-pull. This happens because the BMS has not yet profiled the inrush signature and defaults to a conservative protection threshold. Run two full charge-discharge cycles first and the BMS will calibrate its overcurrent window to the actual motor draw. After that, trigger-pull cutouts stop occurring under normal use.
Charger blinks red and won't accept the pack after storage
Makita 10.8V chargers reject packs where cell voltage has dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell — the charger reads this as a fault and blinks red rather than starting a charge cycle. A pack stored flat for several months can fall below that threshold. To recover it, place the pack in the charger and hold the start button for five seconds on supported docks, or use a known-good Makita 10.8V pack to briefly parallel-boost the depleted cells back above 3.0V per cell before placing it back on the charger. Once the charger accepts the pack, allow a full uninterrupted charge to 12.6V before use.
