Ni-MH cells self-discharge at roughly 1–2% per day at room temperature. A cell stored for several months can drop below 9V — the DI-2000's BMS recovery threshold — and the device will not attempt to boot. Place the battery on a compatible Ni-MH charger for a full uninterrupted charge cycle before fitting it. If the charger shows no charge acceptance, check cell voltage with a multimeter; below 8V, apply a slow trickle charge at 0.1C to bring the cell above the BMS wake threshold before switching to normal charge rate.
