Meister Craft MAS180 Series — 18V Li-ion 5000mAh Replacement Battery (BBR180)
This is an 18V Li-ion battery rated at 5000mAh (90Wh), replacing the OEM BBR180 pack. It fits the Meister Craft MAS180, MAS18VL-2, and units listed under model codes 5451370 and 5451260. Use it in cordless drills, impact drivers, saws, and other Meister Craft 18V platform tools that accept this pack format.
- MAS180 platform fit: The MAS180 and MAS18VL-2 share the same 18V rail, connector layout, and BMS handshake protocol. Any tool in this family drawing from that rail will recognise this pack without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through drill and circular saw loads on the bench. The BMS handled motor-start inrush without tripping and held voltage stable across sustained draw. Cell temperature stayed within spec under back-to-back cycles.
- Motor inrush break-in: On first use, run the tool at half load for two cycles before full torque applications. This lets the BMS log the motor's inrush current signature and set overcurrent thresholds accurately before you push peak draw.
BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush with drills and saws
When you pull the trigger hard on a drill or saw, the motor draws a surge current that can be three to five times the running draw for the first fraction of a second. If the BMS has not yet profiled that motor, it may read the spike as a fault and cut the pack. This is not a defective battery — it is the overcurrent protection doing its job with incomplete data. Two or three moderate-load trigger pulls let the BMS calibrate, after which full-power starts run cleanly.
Tool bogs under load after the pack reads full charge
If the tool feels weak or loses speed under load despite a full charge indicator, the issue is usually voltage sag caused by high resistance at the battery rail contacts. Dirt, oxidation, or worn contact springs on the tool's battery slot reduce the voltage the motor actually receives. Clean the contacts on both the pack and the tool with isopropyl alcohol, then check that the spring-loaded terminals in the tool seat flush against the pack. If rail voltage under load is dropping below 15V, the contacts need replacement before the motor sustains damage.
