MeiZu 16 Replacement Battery - Replaces BA882

$23.79In stock

Why this battery

  • Fits MeiZu 16 smartphone; replaces OEM part number BA882.
  • 3.85V, 2950mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full charge capacity to the original device.
  • Connector seats flush against the battery contact pads; no locking tab present on this form factor.
  • We ran the pack through a full discharge cycle on the fuel gauge test bench; BMS accepted charge input without fault codes.
  • On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before high-current charging resumes.

About this replacement

MeiZu 16 Series — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BA882)

The BA882 is a 3.85V, 2950mAh lithium-polymer cell that replaces the original battery in the MeiZu 16, 16 Standard Edition, 16 Standard Edition Dual SIM TD-LTE, and M882Q. It restores capacity to a phone that shuts down early, charges slowly, or no longer holds a usable charge. Voltage and form factor match OEM spec — 76.14 x 61.30 x 3.84mm.

  • MeiZu 16 platform fit: The 16 and 16 Standard Edition variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One BA882 part number covers all variants in this cluster because the fuel gauge IC and charge termination voltage are identical across the range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on the MeiZu 16 through a full discharge-charge sequence and monitored BMS cutoff behavior. Charge termination triggered correctly at 4.35V and low-voltage protection engaged cleanly below 3.0V — no rogue cutoffs mid-session.
  • First cycle after installation: Disable fast charging for the first complete discharge-charge cycle after fitting this cell. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — running fast charge current into an uncalibrated cell can cause the OS to misreport percentage by as much as 10–15% until the coulomb counter resets.

Why the MeiZu 16 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The MeiZu 16 uses a coulomb counter and fuel gauge IC that builds a discharge model against the original cell's impedance curve. When a new cell goes in, that stored model no longer matches the actual cell chemistry — so the OS percentage reading drifts. This shows up as the indicator reading 40% while the phone is already struggling under load, or jumping from 20% straight to shutdown. One full slow discharge-charge cycle forces the fuel gauge IC to relearn the new cell's curve and anchor the percentage readout to real capacity.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. Under high-draw loads — modem activity, screen at full brightness, GPS active — the cell voltage drops sharply in the 3.5–3.6V range before the OS percentage gauge catches up. The phone's protection circuit interprets this as an undervoltage event and cuts power immediately. Let the phone complete two full discharge cycles before drawing any conclusions about the replacement cell. After recalibration, the fuel gauge's state-of-charge model aligns with the actual cell voltage and the early shutdowns stop.
