About this replacement
MGI Zip / Quad / G800 Navigator — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (NA7105)
This is a 3.7V, 350mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for MGI remote controls including the Zip, Quad, and G800 Navigator series. It fits the handheld wireless remotes used to operate MGI motorized golf caddies. Match the OEM part number NA7105 to confirm fitment before ordering.
- Zip, Quad, and Navigator compatibility: These remotes share the same compact PCB footprint, 3.7V operating rail, and NA7105 connector pinout. One battery cell covers all listed variants without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Navigator remote. The BMS held cutoff voltage correctly and the cell accepted a full charge without thermal event or swelling.
- Li-Polymer swelling check: Before installing, inspect the original cell. A swollen pouch battery can crack the remote housing if left in place. If the back cover is lifting or the cell feels puffy, remove it before powering the remote again.
Why the MGI Navigator remote goes unresponsive at low charge
The IR LED in the Navigator remote requires a minimum voltage to fire a signal strong enough for the caddy receiver to recognise. As the Li-Polymer cell drops toward 3.2V, the LED output falls below the receiver's trigger threshold. The remote appears functional — buttons click, no visible damage — but commands don't register. Replacing the cell restores full LED output voltage and normal operating range.
Remote still not working after new battery install
The NA7105 cell uses a JST-style connector with a keyed polarity orientation. If the remote shows no response after install, the most likely cause is a reversed connection — the positive and negative contacts are swapped. Disconnect the cell, rotate the connector 180 degrees, and reconnect. Confirm the remote wakes and transmits before closing the housing.
