The mTablet's charge controller uses a stored voltage-to-capacity map calibrated to the original cell. A new cell with a different discharge curve hits a voltage cliff earlier than that map predicts, triggering shutdown while the reported percentage still shows charge remaining. The display backlight plus active WiFi together draw enough current to accelerate that voltage sag at low states of charge.
