Miele Scout RX2 / RX3 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (10559142)
This 14.8V, 5200mAh lithium-ion battery replaces OEM part 10559142 and 11779170 in the Miele Scout RX2 and Scout RX3 robotic vacuum cleaners. It powers the drive motors, navigation sensors, and suction system that keep the robot running its full cleaning cycle. Capacity is rated at 76.96Wh and matches the original cell specification.
- Scout RX2 and RX3 compatibility: Both models share the same 14.8V battery platform, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The RX3 uses the same cell format as the RX2 with no hardware revision to the battery bay, so one SKU covers both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the Scout RX2 charging dock and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge handshake without error codes. Current draw across navigation, suction, and brush-roll load stayed within the rated discharge envelope throughout the test.
- Dock charging discipline on the Scout platform: The Scout RX2 and RX3 return to dock automatically after every run. If left on the dock continuously between sessions, the lithium cells stay in a trickle-charge state that accelerates capacity fade. Charge the robot fully, then remove it from the dock if it will sit unused for more than a day or two.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low
The Scout RX2 motor draws significantly more current when the filter is partially blocked or the brush roll is tangled. That elevated draw causes the cell voltage to sag under load even when the battery still shows charge remaining. The BMS reads the voltage sag as a low-power condition and reduces power to the suction motor before the indicator LED triggers. Clean the filter and clear the brush roll — if suction recovers immediately, the battery is fine and the motor load was the cause.
Motor cutting out mid-cycle and then recovering after a pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the suction path is restricted — blocked inlet, saturated filter, or jammed brush roll — the motor stalls and current spikes beyond the BMS threshold. The BMS opens the discharge circuit to protect the cells, which looks like the robot suddenly losing power. After a short pause the BMS resets and the robot resumes. Clear the restriction before the next run; if the trip keeps happening on a clean filter, check that cell voltage reads at least 14.4V on a full charge.
