EPM monitor not completing boot sequence on a new battery
Mindray EPM monitors run a BMS learn cycle during the first few charge-discharge passes. On a fresh cell, the BMS has no stored capacity reference, so the boot sequence may stall or flag a battery error before clinical calibration is complete. This is not a fault with the cell — it is the monitor's charge IC applying conservative limits until the battery's internal resistance profile is mapped. Run one full charge-discharge cycle before placing the unit back in service.
Low battery alarm triggers immediately after a confirmed full charge
This happens when the BMS self-test threshold is calibrated to the OEM cell's internal resistance and the replacement cell hasn't yet completed its first full cycle. The monitor reads state-of-charge from voltage under load, and a new cell's resistance profile differs slightly from a conditioned one. After one complete charge-discharge cycle, the BMS recalibrates its threshold and the alarm clears. Confirm the cell is at or above 12.4V open-circuit before running the conditioning cycle.
