- MEC-1000 platform fit: The MEC-1000 uses an 11.1V three-cell Li-ion pack with a BMS that handshakes at startup. The replacement cell matches that voltage rail and connector pinout so the monitor's power management circuit recognises the pack and proceeds through its boot sequence normally.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the MEC-1000's full charge-discharge profile. The BMS accepted the pack on the first insertion, completed the power-on self-test without fault, and held voltage above the low-battery alarm threshold through the discharge curve.
- First-cycle self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the MEC-1000 to complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting it. The device runs a BMS verification routine at startup. Cutting power during that sequence plants a false battery fault in the system log that persists until the next clean reboot.
Why the MEC-1000 flags a battery fault after a confirmed full charge
The MEC-1000's charge IC applies a conservative acceptance threshold calibrated to a broken-in OEM cell. A new Li-ion pack has slightly higher internal resistance on its first cycles, which the charge controller can read as a chemistry mismatch or incomplete charge state. The monitor raises a battery fault not because the pack is defective, but because the BMS has not yet built a baseline for the new cell's impedance profile. Running one complete charge-discharge cycle — letting the battery drain under normal monitoring load then charging fully to 12.6V — gives the BMS enough data to clear the fault and pass subsequent self-tests.
MEC-1000 fails to complete boot sequence after battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month in storage. If this battery was held in a warehouse or unused for several months, its resting voltage may have dropped below the MEC-1000's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 9V for an 11.1V three-cell pack. Below that point, the monitor's protection circuit blocks startup to prevent an over-discharged cell from taking a charge surge. Place the battery on a compatible Li-ion charger first and let it reach at least 10.5V before reinserting it into the device.
