Why the Sovereign XS throws a low-battery warning immediately after fitting a new pack
The Sovereign XS monitors battery state against a stored voltage threshold from the previous pack. When you fit a new cell with a different resting voltage curve, the detector compares the new pack's open-circuit voltage against that old reference and flags it as low. This is not a fault with the replacement battery — it is a calibration gap. Running a full ground balance cycle resets the reference and clears the warning. After one complete field session, the indicator tracks accurately.
Sovereign XS powers on but shuts off when the coil begins active sweep
The Sovereign XS coil draws a short current spike the moment it starts actively transmitting. If the battery pack has been in storage and the BMS has entered a low-voltage protection state, that initialisation spike trips the BMS cutoff before the detector reaches stable operation. Measure the pack's resting voltage — if it reads below 9.0V, the BMS needs a recovery charge before normal use. Connect to a compatible Li-ion charger and allow a trickle pre-charge cycle to bring the pack above the 9.0V recovery threshold before attempting to power the detector again.
