This 3.7V 1100mAh Li-ion cell replaces the original battery in the Mio Moov S500 and Mio Moov S556 portable GPS navigators. Both devices use the same battery format and connector, drawing from the same OEM part number BP-N229-11/1100MX. Capacity is 1100mAh (4.07Wh) — matching the factory specification.
- Mio Moov S500 and S556 compatibility: Both models share the same 3.7V battery bay, physical footprint at 50.05 × 35.86 × 5.60mm, and connector orientation. The BMS handshake on each device expects the same charge cutoff voltage, so one cell covers both platforms without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the S500 platform. The onboard BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, voltage regulation held stable through active navigation load, and the charge circuit terminated correctly at full capacity.
- First satellite fix after swap: After fitting this cell, power the unit on outdoors and let it run a full cold start. GPS navigators lose their almanac data on full power removal — first fix can take 5–10 minutes in open sky versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts. Leave the device stationary outdoors until the fix locks.

The S500 reduces receiver sensitivity as cell voltage drops toward the low-battery threshold. This happens before the device shuts off — you may notice position drift or longer recalculation times while the battery indicator still shows one bar. The GPS receiver draws significant current, and the device throttles it to stretch remaining charge. Keeping the cell above 3.6V maintains full receiver performance.

An aged original battery loses capacity but the device's voltage-threshold indicator doesn't recalibrate to match. The visual warning never fires because the cell hits the cutoff floor before the indicator logic triggers it. After fitting a new cell, the first two full charge-discharge cycles let the firmware re-read the voltage curve correctly. Run the unit through two complete cycles — charge fully, navigate until shutdown — and the warning should appear at the right point.
