This 7.4V, 2600mAh Li-ion battery replaces part number 178081747 in the MobiWire MobiPrin 3 payment terminal. It restores power to the terminal's display, receipt printer, and wireless radio stack. Correct voltage and connector match the original cell specification.
- MobiPrin 3 platform fit: The MobiPrin 3 uses a 7.4V two-cell Li-ion pack with a BMS that validates voltage range and connector pinout on boot. This replacement matches that configuration — the terminal's charge IC and BMS handshake accept it without firmware rejection or low-battery lockout.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the MobiPrin 3's boot sequence and simulated transaction loads including printer motor draws. The BMS held the voltage rail stable through print-and-transmit bursts and did not trigger overcurrent cutoff at normal operating draw.
- First transaction cycle before live deployment: After installation, run one complete transaction — power on, process a payment, print a receipt — before putting the terminal into a live retail environment. The MobiPrin 3 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one full power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.
Payment terminal rebooting mid-transaction after battery swap
When the receipt printer motor fires, it pulls a short high-current burst that can trip the BMS overcurrent threshold on a new cell not yet conditioned to the load profile. The MobiPrin 3 combines wireless transmission and print output simultaneously, which stacks the draw. If the terminal reboots at the point of receipt printing, the BMS is cutting out before the cell can recover. Running two or three full transaction cycles conditions the cell and allows the BMS to establish normal current limits for that draw pattern.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence on replacement battery
The MobiPrin 3 runs a PCI security boot check that includes a BMS handshake — if the battery hasn't completed a charge-discharge cycle, the terminal may stall partway through boot or display a power fault. This is not a defective battery. Connect the terminal to the charger, allow it to reach full charge, then power it on and let it boot completely before use. One full charge-boot cycle is enough for the BMS to be accepted by the terminal's security firmware.
