Mortara F1559 / Monitor Surveyor S4 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (D062)
This 7.4V 1600mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original power cell in the Mortara F1559 12-lead ECG machine and Monitor Surveyor S4. Both devices use the same battery platform, sharing OEM part numbers 120020-O, 4800-018, and D062. The F1559 is portable clinical diagnostic equipment — the battery must meet specific BMS handshake requirements to pass the device's internal self-test on startup.
- F1559 and Monitor Surveyor S4 compatibility: Both models run the same 7.4V bus voltage and use an identical connector and BMS communication protocol. The same cell works across both platforms without any hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the F1559's full power-on sequence and confirmed the BMS handshake completed without fault flags. The charge IC accepted the cell and the self-test passed on the second charge cycle after the initial conditioning pass.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the F1559 to complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting or power-cycling the device. The BMS runs a verification routine at startup — cutting power mid-sequence logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Why the F1559 alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge
The F1559 uses a conservative BMS threshold calibrated to the original OEM cell's charge curve. A new replacement cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile until it completes one full charge-discharge cycle. Until that first cycle is done, the BMS reads the cell's voltage response as below its pass threshold and triggers a low battery alert even at full charge. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical deployment — the alarm clears on the next full charge after that cycle.
Device will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell drops below approximately 2.5V per cell (5.0V pack total), the F1559's BMS will not initiate a charge cycle and the device shows no response on the power button. Connect the device to mains power and leave it on the charger for a minimum of 30 minutes without pressing power — most charge ICs apply a low-current pre-charge trickle below 3.0V per cell to recover the pack. Once the pack recovers above the BMS threshold, normal charging resumes and the device powers on.
