Motorola Minitor 5 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (RLN5707)
This is a 3.6V / 500mAh Ni-MH replacement cell for the Motorola Minitor 5 voice pager. It fits both the Minitor 5 and Minitor V5 and slots directly into the battery compartment using the original holder. The RLN5707 and RLN5707A are the same cell — different suffix, same spec.
- Minitor 5 / Minitor V5 fitment: Both model designations use the same battery bay, terminal layout, and contact orientation. The cell dimensions — 58.26 x 42.24 x 9.65mm — match the OEM footprint exactly, so no holder modification is needed.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in a Minitor 5 and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge cycle without fault. The pager completed a full charge, held standby, and triggered the alert tone correctly through the test sequence.
- Post-swap power cycle: After fitting the new cell, power the pager completely off and back on before returning it to service. The Minitor 5 needs a fresh boot to reset its low-battery voltage baseline — skipping this can cause the low-battery indicator to fire incorrectly even with a full cell.
Why the Minitor 5 stops receiving alerts after a battery swap
The Minitor 5 stores its paging network registration state in volatile memory. If the old battery died completely before removal, that state can be lost. A full power cycle after fitting the new cell forces the pager to re-register on the network. If alerts still don't come through after a reboot, check that the pager is set to the correct channel and that the squelch is not muted.
Low-battery alert firing immediately on a brand-new cell
Ni-MH cells ship at storage voltage — typically around 1.1V to 1.2V per cell, which reads low to the pager's fuel gauge before the first charge completes. The Minitor 5 will flag low battery if the resting voltage sits below its detection threshold. Fit the cell, place the pager on its charger, and run a full charge cycle. The indicator clears once the cell reaches operating voltage.
