Motorola Moto G 5G Plus / G100 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (LZ50)
This 3.85V, 4850mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the OEM LZ50 battery in the Motorola Moto G 5G Plus, Moto G100, XT2075, and XT2075-1. It restores power to the processor, display, and 5G radio stack after the original cell has degraded. Dimensions are 77.20 × 63.00 × 5.30mm — verify clearance before seating the adhesive strip.
- XT2075 series compatibility: The Moto G 5G Plus and G100 share the same board layout, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — both accept the LZ50 cell without modification to the flex cable or charge IC configuration.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on an XT2075 board, confirmed BMS communication over the battery connector, and verified the charge IC accepted the cell at both standard and fast-charge current levels without tripping overcurrent protection.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging is introduced into an uncalibrated state.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Moto G 5G Plus after a cell swap
The Snapdragon 765G and the 5G modem together pull high current spikes during active radio use. If the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, it misreads the new cell's state of charge. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem load — typically around 3.5V — before the OS registers low battery. One full discharge cycle down to automatic shutdown, then a complete charge to 100%, resets the coulomb counter to the new cell's actual capacity curve.
USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement
On the first cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the G100 and G 5G Plus may default to standard 5V charging while it validates the new cell's BMS response. This is normal behaviour — the IC runs a brief impedance check before it negotiates a higher voltage with the charger. Use the original Motorola TurboPower adapter for the first charge, not a third-party cable or hub. Fast charge typically re-engages automatically from the second cycle onward once the IC has logged a completed charge event.
