Motorola Razr 2019 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (KV30)
This is a 3.8V, 1100mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Motorola Razr 2019 foldable smartphone. It fits the XT2000-1, XT2000-2, and XT2000 variants. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or fails to power the device through normal use.
- Razr 2019 foldable platform (XT2000 series): The XT2000-1, XT2000-2, and XT2000 variants share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. This cell matches the OEM form factor at 61.36 × 52.50 × 2.60mm — critical in a folding chassis where even 0.1mm clearance matters.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Razr 2019 unit, monitoring BMS communication, charge acceptance, and cutoff behaviour across multiple full discharge-charge cycles. The BMS handshake initialised correctly and charge termination triggered at the expected voltage ceiling.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell — reducing erratic percentage readings early on.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Razr 2019 after a cell swap
The Razr 2019's fuel gauge IC builds a discharge model based on the original cell's internal resistance curve. A new cell has a different impedance profile, so the IC miscalculates the remaining capacity. Under modem load or screen-on draw, the actual cell voltage drops below the shutdown threshold while the OS still shows 20–30%. The fix is one full discharge to near-zero followed by a complete charge — this forces the coulomb counter to reset its baseline against the new cell.
USB-PD fast charge not working on the first cycle after replacement
On first insertion, the charge IC may not negotiate fast charge protocols with an uncalibrated BMS — the phone defaults to standard 5V charging as a safety fallback. This is normal behaviour on the first cycle. Complete one full slow charge to 100%, then disconnect and allow normal use. Fast charge negotiation typically resumes from the second cycle onward once the BMS has logged a complete charge event.
