Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low
The D8 and D9 motors draw significantly more current when the filter is partially blocked or the brush roll has a wrap obstruction. That extra draw pulls voltage down across the cell faster than the battery indicator — which reads state of charge, not load voltage — can reflect. The result is audible suction loss while the indicator still reads mid-range. Clear the filter and check the brush roll first. If suction restores immediately, the battery is fine — the motor was simply pulling more than rated current under restriction.
Motor cuts out mid-cycle then recovers after a few seconds
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction forces the motor to draw above the BMS overcurrent threshold, the battery protection circuit cuts output to prevent cell damage. The robot pauses, the BMS resets after a few seconds, and the motor restarts. The fix is always mechanical — clear the filter, check the intake path, and remove any wrap from the brush roll. A clean airpath brings motor draw back inside the BMS window and the trips stop. Confirm the filter is seated correctly after cleaning, as a misaligned filter increases restriction even when visually clean.
