Why this battery

  • Fits Newland SD100 Orion II MD tablet; replaces OEM part BRP-38-9000.
  • 3.8V, 9000mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full capacity to this Android device.
  • Connector slides into the battery slot with a single locking tab engagement.
  • We bench-tested this cell in the SD100 charge circuit; BMS accepted the handshake on first insertion without fault codes.
  • After installation, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the fuel gauge IC calibration against the new cell and resolves the inaccurate percentage display that appears after a swap.

About this replacement

Newland SD100 Orion II MD — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BRP-38-9000)

This is a 3.8V, 9000mAh (34.2Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for the Newland SD100 Orion II MD tablet. It fits directly into the SD100 Orion II MD and restores capacity lost after repeated charge cycles on the original cell. OEM part number BRP-38-9000.

  • SD100 Orion II MD platform fit: The BRP-38-9000 matches the voltage rail, physical footprint (137.80 × 77.90 × 6.50mm), and connector pinout specific to the SD100 Orion II MD. The BMS handshake communicates state-of-charge data to the tablet's fuel gauge IC, which is what makes percentage reporting work after swap.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and discharge on the SD100 Orion II MD platform. The BMS held protection thresholds at both low-voltage cutoff and overcharge, and charge IC communication remained stable throughout.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. The SD100 Orion II MD's fuel gauge IC calibrated itself to the old cell — one complete cycle resets that reference and corrects inaccurate percentage readings that commonly appear after a swap.

SD100 Orion II MD shutting down at 15–25% remaining

The SD100 Orion II MD draws combined load from the display backlight and WiFi simultaneously, which creates a voltage sag that can push cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold while the reported percentage still looks safe. The fuel gauge IC is reading state-of-charge from a model built on the old cell's behaviour — it doesn't match the new cell's discharge curve yet. After one full recalibration cycle, the shutoff point moves back to where it should be. If shutdowns persist past two full cycles, check that the charge IC reached exactly 4.35V before disconnecting.

Fast charging not available on the SD100 Orion II MD after battery swap

The SD100 Orion II MD negotiates charge rate via USB-PD on the first accepted charge cycle with a new cell. If fast charge doesn't appear immediately after installation, that's expected — the device hasn't completed the negotiation sequence yet. Plug into the original charger and let the first charge run completely uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle completes, USB-PD negotiation activates and fast charging becomes available again.
