The Nokia 500's GPS receiver draws continuous power to maintain satellite lock. When cell voltage drops toward the lower threshold, the unit can reduce receiver sensitivity to preserve remaining charge. This shows up as degraded position accuracy or intermittent lock loss before the battery indicator reads empty. Keeping the cell above 3.5V during active navigation prevents the receiver from stepping down.

Run the device from a full charge until automatic shutdown, then recharge fully — one cycle corrects the displayed threshold. Target a full charge to 4.2V before the first navigation session.
