Nokia 6708 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-3001L)
The BP-3001L is a 3.7V, 1300mAh Li-ion cell for the Nokia 6708 smartphone. It replaces the original battery when the phone no longer holds a charge through a full day of calls and messaging. Voltage and capacity match the OEM spec exactly.
- Nokia 6708 fit: The 6708 uses a dedicated battery bay with a specific connector pitch and BMS handshake tied to the BP-3001L form factor. Substituting a different cell family breaks that handshake and triggers a charge fault on the phone's charge IC.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Nokia 6708 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the charge IC ramped to full current within the first cycle.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC one clean cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve before reporting accurate percentages.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Nokia 6708 after a cell swap
This happens because the phone's fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve from the old, degraded cell. When the new cell hits a voltage point the IC misreads as near-empty, it signals a shutdown even though usable capacity remains. The modem and display draw a sharp current spike that drops cell voltage below the IC's cutoff threshold momentarily. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle rewrites the coulomb counter baseline and clears the premature cutoff.
Phone not powering on after the BP-3001L sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the BP-3001L dropped below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a lockout state to prevent unsafe charging. The phone will show no response — no charge indicator, no boot screen. Connect the phone to a wall charger rather than a PC USB port, which delivers stable 5V at higher current, and leave it for 20–30 minutes before attempting to power on. Once the BMS sees voltage above its recovery threshold, charging resumes normally.
