This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the degraded original cell. When the display backlight and Wi-Fi radio pull current simultaneously, voltage sags briefly below the IC's stored low-voltage threshold — and it triggers an early shutdown even though usable capacity remains. The fix is one full recalibration cycle: discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. After that single cycle, the IC recalculates its cutoff reference against the new cell and shutdowns at 15–25% stop occurring.
Fast charging not available after replacing the battery
Some ONN tablets require at least one completed charge cycle before the charge IC enables fast charge negotiation on a new cell. On a fresh cell, the charge controller may default to standard current until it confirms stable voltage behaviour across a full cycle. Plug into the original ONN charger — not a third-party cable — and let the tablet charge fully from below 10% without interruption. Fast charge typically becomes available from the next charge session onward once the cycle is logged.
