On a freshly installed cell, the fuel gauge IC has no charge history, so the controller defaults to standard 5V charging as a precaution. After one complete accepted charge cycle — from automatic shutoff to 100% — the controller receives valid state-of-charge data and unlocks the higher input rate. If fast charging still does not appear after that cycle, confirm the adapter supports USB-PD output at 9V or higher.
