Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the R15 Dream Mirror after a cell swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC still holds the old cell's voltage-to-capacity curve in memory. When the new cell hits a voltage point the old curve maps to 20–30%, the phone interprets it as a safe shutdown threshold and cuts power — even though the new cell has charge remaining. The modem and screen together draw enough current to expose the voltage cliff faster than the gauge expects. One full discharge to automatic shutdown, followed by a complete charge at standard rate, forces the coulomb counter to rebuild its reference map against the new cell.
USB fast charging not activating on the first cycle after replacement
On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC on the R15 Dream Mirror may default to standard 5V input rather than negotiating the higher-voltage fast charge profile. This is a protection behaviour — the IC holds back until it has confirmed cell impedance is within range. Let the first cycle complete fully at standard rate without interrupting it. Fast charge typically resumes from the second cycle onward once the IC has logged a baseline impedance reading for the new cell.
