Why the Zeon Discovery rejects a new battery on first power-on
The Zeon Discovery's BMS runs a chemistry verification check at startup and compares the cell's internal resistance against thresholds calibrated to an OEM-conditioned pack. A brand-new cell has slightly elevated internal resistance before its first full cycle, which can push it outside that threshold. The device may flag a battery fault or refuse to illuminate even though the pack is fully charged. One complete charge-discharge cycle lowers cell resistance enough to pass the BMS check reliably on all subsequent startups.
Charge indicator stalls below 100% on the first charge
On the first charge, the Zeon Discovery's charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unrecognised cell, which extends the absorption phase and may cause the indicator to plateau before reaching full. This is the charge controller being cautious — not a fault with the battery. Let the charge cycle run to natural termination without unplugging early. After one full cycle, subsequent charges complete normally and the indicator reaches 100%.
