Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the ORCA 040
This happens because the motor draws more current under a restricted airpath — a partially blocked filter or clogged brush roll forces the motor to work harder than rated load. The BMS reads that elevated draw as a low-voltage condition and begins throttling output before the indicator reflects it. The fix is not the battery — clean or replace the filter first. If suction recovers after that, the cell is functioning correctly and voltage at the motor is staying above the 9.0V cutoff floor.
Motor cuts out mid-clean and then restarts after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When the brush roll or nozzle is blocked, suction restriction spikes the motor's current draw sharply — the BMS cuts power to protect the cell, then resets after a few seconds once the overcurrent condition clears. Clear the blockage at the brush roll or nozzle, then check the filter. If the cutout stops after clearing the restriction, the battery and BMS are working as intended. If it continues on an unblocked vacuum with a new filter, verify that cell voltage under load is staying above 9.5V.
