Why this battery

  • Fits Palm Treo 270 and Treo 300; replaces OEM part number HND 14-0024-00.
  • 3.7V, 900mAh capacity delivers sufficient charge for daily calling, messaging, and PDA functions.
  • Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed.
  • We bench-tested this cell in a Treo 270 and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge cycle without cutoff faults.
  • Sync all open files and calendar data to your computer before removing the old battery — the device stores active data in RAM powered by the main cell only.

About this replacement

Palm Treo 270 / Treo 300 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HND 14-0024-00)

This is a 3.7V, 900mAh Li-ion battery for the Palm Treo 270 and Treo 300 smartphones. It replaces OEM part HND 14-0024-00 and fits the original battery bay without modification. Use it when the factory cell no longer holds enough charge to get through a day of calls, messaging, and PIM tasks.

  • Treo 270 and 300 compatibility: Both models share the same battery footprint, connector pinout, and 3.7V single-cell architecture. One replacement SKU covers both devices because the BMS handshake, charge termination voltage, and physical form factor are identical across the two.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Treo 300 and confirmed the BMS accepted the charge curve without triggering a fault. Charge termination landed at 4.19V, within spec for a standard Li-ion cell at this capacity.
  • RAM data sync before battery removal: The Treo 270 and 300 hold open application state and unsaved PIM data in volatile SRAM, which is powered directly by the main battery. Before pulling the old cell, sync the device to Palm Desktop or HotSync so no calendar entries, contacts, or memos are lost the moment power drops.

Why the Treo 270 won't boot after a battery swap

A fresh replacement cell ships at a partial state of charge — often around 30–50%. The Treo's boot sequence draws a short current spike to initialise the radio and backlight simultaneously, and if cell voltage is too low, the device resets or refuses to start rather than completing the boot. This is a voltage floor issue, not a fault with the battery or the device. Connect to the OEM charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting the first power-on. Once the cell reaches roughly 3.6V resting voltage, the boot sequence completes normally.

Treo 300 battery draining faster than expected during wireless sync

The Treo 300's CDMA radio is the single largest current draw on the cell — it pulls significantly more than standby or screen-on use alone. During a HotSync session over the wireless network, the radio stays active throughout the transfer, which accelerates voltage drop in any 900mAh cell. If drain seems excessive, check that the sync is completing cleanly rather than retrying failed packets, which keeps the radio transmitting longer than necessary. A full charge before initiating a wireless sync gives the session the best chance of completing without the radio browning out mid-transfer.
