This 3.7V, 900mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the internal battery in the Palm Tungsten E PDA. It fits the original battery slot and connects to the same board-side connector used on the Tungsten E mainboard. Capacity figures come from product data — 900mAh / 3.33Wh.
- Tungsten E battery fitment: The Tungsten E uses a fixed internal cell with a board-mounted connector and no user-accessible battery door. The UP383562A A6 matches the cell dimensions (61.20 x 4.52 x 4.42mm) and voltage rail that the Tungsten E power management IC expects. A mismatched voltage causes the device to shut down immediately on boot.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Tungsten E unit and confirmed the power management IC accepted the new battery without throwing a charge-fault state. The BMS balanced correctly and the device completed a full boot sequence from a cold start.
- Sync before you swap: The Tungsten E holds open application data and your current RAM state in volatile memory powered directly by the main battery. Remove the cell without syncing first and that data is gone. HotSync to your desktop before cracking the case open — not after.
Why the Tungsten E loses all data after a battery replacement
The Tungsten E stores active application data, contacts, and calendar entries in SRAM. That SRAM is powered entirely by the main lithium-polymer cell — there is no separate coin cell backup on this model. The moment battery voltage drops to zero during a swap, everything in RAM is wiped. A successful HotSync before removal is the only way to protect that data. After fitting this replacement cell, a HotSync will restore your records from the desktop backup.
Tungsten E stuck on Palm logo screen after new battery fitted
A new lithium-polymer cell shipped in storage state may sit below the minimum voltage the Tungsten E boot sequence needs to complete. The device powers on, hits the Palm logo, and stalls — or resets in a loop. Connect the unit to its charger before attempting a first boot and leave it for at least 30 minutes. Once the cell climbs above approximately 3.5V, the boot sequence will complete normally. Do not hold the power button repeatedly — repeated reset attempts drain the cell further before it has charged.
