Palm Visor Prism — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (14-0006-00)
This is a 3.7V, 1600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Palm Visor Prism PDA. It replaces OEM part number 14-0006-00. If your Visor Prism won't hold a charge or won't power on at all, this is the direct cell replacement.
- Visor Prism platform fit: The Visor Prism uses a single-cell Li-ion pack at 3.7V with a specific connector and BMS handshake tied to the device's power management IC. This cell matches that voltage rail and connector footprint exactly — the BMS communicates correctly with the Prism's charge controller on first install.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on Visor Prism hardware. The BMS held charge termination at the correct cutoff voltage and did not trigger false low-battery shutdowns during normal PDA operation, including screen-on and data entry use.
- Pre-swap data sync: The Visor Prism stores open application state and unsaved data in SRAM powered directly by the main battery. Before pulling the old cell, sync your device to the host computer via HotSync. Removing the battery without syncing first will erase anything not yet written to flash storage.
Why the Visor Prism loses all data when the battery is swapped
Unlike modern smartphones, the Visor Prism holds a large portion of its working data — contacts, calendar entries, app state — in volatile SRAM. That memory requires continuous battery voltage to retain its contents. The moment the cell drops below the minimum retention voltage, the SRAM contents are gone. There is no internal backup capacitor large enough to bridge a full battery removal. The fix is a HotSync to the desktop conduit before the swap, so all records are committed to the PC-side database.
Visor Prism won't boot after new battery installed
A freshly shipped Li-ion cell may arrive at a low storage charge — sometimes below the minimum voltage the Visor Prism's boot sequence requires to initialise the display and OS. If the device shows nothing on screen after fitting the new battery, connect it to the cradle charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button. The power management IC on the Prism blocks the boot sequence below approximately 3.4V to protect the display controller. Charge first, then boot.
