This 3.7V, 900mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Palm Visor Pro handheld PDA. The Visor Pro is an early 2000s Palm OS organizer with a color screen and expandable memory slots. After two decades, original batteries commonly hold a fraction of rated capacity — this replacement restores full operating voltage to the device.

- Sync before you swap: The Visor Pro stores active application data and user state in SRAM that is powered directly by the main battery. Remove the cell without syncing to the host computer first and any unsaved data — contacts, calendar entries, open memos — is gone. HotSync before pulling the battery, every time.
Why the Visor Pro loses all data on a battery swap
Palm OS PDAs of this era use volatile SRAM as working memory. Unlike flash storage, SRAM needs continuous power to retain its contents. The moment the battery is removed, SRAM loses voltage and all data in RAM is wiped — including open applications, unsaved records, and system state. A full HotSync to a desktop computer moves that data off the device and onto stable storage before power is cut. Once the new battery is installed and the device boots, a second HotSync restores everything cleanly.

This usually means the new cell shipped with a low state of charge and the boot sequence can't complete at that voltage. Palm OS requires a minimum voltage threshold to initialise the OS and load from storage — below that, the device loops or freezes at the splash screen. Connect the Visor Pro to its charging cradle or cable and charge the new battery for at least two hours before attempting to boot. Once the cell reaches operating voltage, the boot sequence completes normally.
