The CF-LX BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers on the battery controller, not from live voltage. When a new cell is installed, those registers still reflect the degradation profile of the old battery, so the system flags poor health even though the cell is new. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the BIOS to rewrite those registers against the new cell. After one to two complete cycles, the health indicator resets to normal. If the warning persists beyond three cycles, check the battery status page in Panasonic PC Settings Utility for a fault code.

Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This is a voltage cliff, not a capacity fault. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can track, and the laptop hits the hardware cutoff voltage before the percentage reaches zero. It is common in the first few cycles on a new cell because the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated its discharge curve against the new chemistry. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles to let the IC map the actual voltage-to-percentage curve. After calibration, the shutoff point should track accurately down to approximately 3.0V per cell.
