The CF-LX BIOS reads health data from EEPROM registers on the battery controller, not from live voltage. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the BIOS to rewrite those registers against the new cell. Laptop shuts down abruptly at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This is a voltage cliff, not a capacity fault. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can track, and the laptop hits the hardware cutoff voltage before the percentage reaches zero. It is common in the first few cycles on a new cell because the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated its discharge curve against the new chemistry. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles to let the IC map the actual voltage-to-percentage curve. After calibration, the shutoff point should track accurately down to approximately 3.0V per cell.
