This is a 3.6V, 650mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Panasonic Handheld ZE-79UNCY, ZE-79XAYE, and ZE-79 barcode scanners. It uses OEM part number ZE-79XAYE and fits the compact housing directly. The battery restores scanning function in retail, warehouse, and inventory environments where the original cell has degraded.

Ni-MH cells arrive in a partially discharged state. Some ZE-79 cradles interpret the low initial voltage as a fault and flag a charging error rather than starting a charge cycle. Wipe the pack contacts and cradle contacts with a dry cloth, then reseat the scanner firmly. Most cradles clear the error and begin charging once contact resistance drops below the dock's threshold.

The ZE-79 draws simultaneously from the wireless radio and the scan trigger during fast barcode runs. On a degraded or low cell, that combined inrush pulls voltage below the radio module's minimum, dropping the wireless link mid-shift. This is a cell capacity issue, not a radio fault. A freshly charged 650mAh pack keeps the voltage rail above 3.2V through the burst, holding the connection stable.
