Why the AJ-PX270 reports a lower charge level than the HDC-MDH2GK on the same cell
The AJ-PX270 uses a more granular battery-remaining algorithm tied to its broadcast-grade power management system. It samples cell voltage under the heavier draw of its AVC-Ultra codec and XLR phantom power circuit, so reported percentage reflects real-time load voltage rather than resting voltage. The HDC-MDH2GK runs a lighter processor load and samples less aggressively. A cell that reads 80% on the HDC body may show 70% on the AJ-PX under active recording — the physical capacity is identical, only the reporting method differs.
Battery percentage jumping erratically on the camcorder display
This happens when the BMS indicator mapping hasn't been calibrated to the new cell's discharge curve. The original OEM cell trains the camera's gauge over dozens of cycles; a new replacement cell starts without that history. Run one complete charge-to-full, then record until the camera shuts off on low battery — this gives the BMS one full reference discharge curve. After that single cycle, percentage readout typically stabilises. If jumping continues past three cycles, check that cell resting voltage is at or above 7.4V before charging.
