- MG6060 / MG6160 / MG6130 compatibility: These panels share the same 7.2V backup rail, the same physical battery bay, and the same BMS charge management circuit. One cell fits all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on the MG6060 platform. The panel accepted the charge cycle without a BMS fault, float voltage stabilised correctly, and no low-battery event was logged after the 48-hour conditioning window.
- Post-installation hold-off period: Do not run a zone or siren test immediately after swapping this cell. Allow the panel to hold the new battery on float charge for 24–48 hours first. Testing before that window closes will often trigger a false low-battery report from the panel's BMS.
Alarm panel losing programming during a power outage after a new battery install
A freshly installed Ni-MH cell is not at full capacity the moment the panel lid closes. The BMS on MG-series panels requires a full 48-hour float charge cycle before the battery can sustain the control board through a prolonged mains outage. If the outage hits within that window, the panel may drop below operating voltage, wipe volatile memory, and reset to factory defaults. Let the panel sit on mains power for 48 hours before treating the backup battery as operational.
Siren not sounding on test immediately after battery replacement
MG-series panels impose a 30–60 second charge stabilisation delay on the siren output after the backup battery is reconnected. This is a firmware-level protection, not a wiring fault. The siren circuit will not trigger until the panel confirms the battery voltage is above its minimum threshold. Wait at least 60 seconds after closing the enclosure, then re-run the siren test — the output should fire normally once the voltage check passes.
