Philip Morris iQos — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BAT0296)
This is a 3.8V, 350mAh lithium-polymer cell that replaces the internal battery in the Philip Morris iQos heated tobacco device. It powers the heating blade that vaporises tobacco sticks. Fit this when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the device stops heating mid-session.
- iQos heating system compatibility: The iQos uses a tightly controlled power delivery path to hit a precise blade temperature. The BAT0296 cell matches the original voltage rail and connector footprint, so the device firmware accepts it without a mismatch flag.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and draw sequences on the iQos platform. The BMS held cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold and did not trip on the heating blade's initial inrush current.
- Post-session charging caution: Do not charge the iQos immediately after back-to-back heating sessions. Allow 15 minutes for the cell to cool below 40°C first — charging a warm lithium-polymer cell accelerates electrolyte breakdown and shortens overall cycle life.
Why the iQos heating blade stops warming up before the session ends
The heating blade in the iQos draws a short high-current pulse to reach operating temperature. As the original cell ages, internal resistance rises and voltage sags under that pulse. The device interprets the voltage sag as a depleted cell and cuts the heating cycle short. A fresh BAT0296 cell with lower internal resistance delivers the pulse cleanly, so the blade reaches full temperature and holds it for the full heating sequence.
iQos LED flashing without heating after battery swap
If the LED flashes but the blade does not heat after fitting a replacement cell, the battery voltage is likely below the device's activation threshold from sitting in storage. The iQos controller will not trigger the heating element below approximately 3.4V. Plug the device into the charger for at least 20 minutes before attempting a heating session — this brings the cell above the minimum activation voltage and allows the controller to initialise the heating cycle normally.
