Philips Magic 2 / TD6031 / Xalio 200 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (CP51)
This is a 2.4V 600mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Philips Magic 2 cordless phone range. It also fits the TD6031, TD6731, and Xalio 200 handsets. The battery slots into the handset compartment and restores talk time and standby that a degraded original pack can no longer hold.
- Magic 2 / TD6031 / TD6731 / Xalio 200 compatibility: These handsets share the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH bay, connector pitch, and base-station charge circuit. One pack covers all four models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through the charge circuit on a TD6031 base station. The BMS accepted the pack cleanly, the charge LED lit immediately, and cell voltage tracked correctly across the full charge curve.
- First-charge protocol for NiMH cordless packs: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — pulling it early on the first cycle leaves capacity on the table for weeks.
Talk time shorter than expected after fitting the new pack
NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they hit rated capacity. A pack that feels weak on day one is not faulty — it is unconditioned. Run the handset until the low-battery alert sounds, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat. By cycle four, capacity stabilises at the rated 600mAh.
Base station charge light not coming on after swap
Philips Magic 2 series bases use a voltage threshold to detect a valid pack before starting the charge cycle. A new NiMH battery that has sat in storage can drop below that threshold — typically under 2.0V — and the base reads it as absent or faulty. Remove the handset, wait ten seconds, and reseat it firmly. If the light still does not light, check that the handset contacts are clean and that the pack voltage reads at least 2.0V with a multimeter before returning it to the base.
