Philips FC6404 Replacement Battery - Replaces 5ICR19/65

Why this battery

  • Fits Philips FC6404, FC6405, FC6168, FC6169 and four additional handheld vacuum models, replacing OEM part 5ICR19/65.
  • 18.5V, 2500mAh delivers the voltage and capacity needed to sustain motor torque on carpet and hard floors without premature cutoff.
  • Connector slides straight onto the dock contact pins with a left-side locking tab that seats flush against the vacuum body.
  • We bench-tested the BMS under sustained high-draw suction cycles; the cell held stable voltage delivery with no early shutoff on full blockage simulation.
  • Do not leave this vacuum on the charging dock continuously after a full charge — trickle current degrades lithium capacity faster than dock-on-demand charging does.

About this replacement

Philips FC6404 / FC6405 Series — 18.5V Li-ion Replacement Battery (5ICR19/65)

This 18.5V, 2500mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original cell pack in the Philips FC6404, FC6405, FC6168, and FC6169 cordless handheld vacuums. It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector layout for these models. Capacity is 2500mAh (46.25Wh), consistent with the original specification.

  • FC6404 / FC6405 / FC6168 / FC6169 compatibility: These models share the same 18.5V motor drive circuit, battery connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — one cell pack covers the group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through discharge under sustained motor load. The BMS held the voltage curve within spec and triggered protection cutoff correctly at the low-voltage threshold without false trips.
  • Dock charging behaviour on the FC6404: Do not leave the vacuum sitting on the charging dock permanently. Continuous dock contact applies a trickle current after the cell reaches full charge, accelerating capacity fade over months. Charge to full, then remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor draws more current than the battery's discharge curve can sustain at that state of charge. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to work harder, pulling current spikes that drag cell voltage down early. The BMS reads the voltage drop and begins throttling power before the indicator registers a problem. Clear the filter first — if suction recovers, the battery is not the fault.

Motor cuts out mid-clean then restarts after a pause

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When suction is restricted — blocked nozzle, clogged filter, or hair wrapped around the brush — the motor stalls briefly and draws a current spike above the BMS threshold. The BMS shuts the output, the motor stops, and the circuit resets after a few seconds. Check and clear any blockage, then restart. If cut-outs continue on a clean vacuum, measure resting cell voltage — a healthy pack should read at or above 18.5V after a full charge.
