Why the SBC-EB4880 parent unit drops its camera link after a battery swap
The parent unit stores its paired camera address in volatile memory backed by the battery. When the pack voltage drops to zero during a swap, that memory clears and the radio module loses its registered channel. The camera unit is still broadcasting, but the parent unit has no address to lock onto. A manual re-pair — typically a five-second button hold on both units — writes the address back and restores the link immediately.
Parent unit battery draining overnight with screen staying on
Running the LCD backlight continuously through the night is a sustained current draw that a 700mAh cell was not sized to absorb for eight-plus hours in isolation. Most users report the drain after disabling the screen-timeout function, which is off by default on some firmware versions. Go into the display settings menu and set the screen timeout to 30 seconds or less. That one change alone brings overnight current draw back within the battery's cycle budget.
