Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. When the modem transmits or the screen runs at full brightness, current draw spikes sharply. If the cell's internal resistance is higher than the original — common on a fresh cell before it beds in — terminal voltage drops below the protection threshold under load even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The phone's power IC reads the voltage drop as a dead cell and cuts out. Run two or three full discharge-charge cycles and the internal resistance settles; the shutdowns typically stop. If they continue past cycle three, check that the connector is fully seated — a partial connection raises contact resistance and triggers the same symptom.

OS reporting wrong battery percentage after cell swap

The Xenium S395 uses a coulomb counter that was calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. Swapping the cell does not reset that calibration automatically. Until the fuel gauge IC completes a full discharge-charge cycle with the new cell, it will read percentages against the old curve and report incorrect values — often showing full charge earlier than actual, or jumping erratically between readings. To recalibrate, charge to 100%, discharge fully until the phone shuts off on its own, then charge back to 100% without interruption. One complete cycle is usually enough to re-anchor the coulomb counter to the new cell.
