Plantronics CT11 / CT12 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (6342101)
This is a 3.6V, 850mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Plantronics CT11 and CT12 cordless phone headset systems. It slots into the handset unit and restores wireless operation when the original cell has degraded. Voltage and form factor match OEM part 6342101 / 63421-01.
- CT11 and CT12 compatibility: Both models use the same handset housing, connector pinout, and 3.6V NiMH cell format — one battery fits either unit without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a CT11 handset. The base station accepted the battery without fault lights, and the BMS held voltage within the expected 3.6V nominal range across all test cycles.
- First charge on NiMH cordless handsets: After fitting this battery, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before use. NiMH cells in cordless phones need a slow initial charge to reach rated capacity — skipping this step is the most common reason a new battery appears weak out of the box.

NiMH batteries lose voltage during storage. If the cell drops far enough, the CT11 base station's charging circuit may not recognise it as a valid pack and will either show an error light or simply not initiate a charge cycle. This is a threshold issue, not a fault with the battery. To recover it, place the handset firmly in the base and leave it undisturbed — most base stations will detect the pack and begin trickle charging within 20 to 30 minutes. Once voltage climbs above the acceptance threshold, the full charge cycle starts automatically.
Talk time shorter than expected after the first few uses
NiMH cells do not deliver full capacity on the first cycle — this is normal chemistry, not a defect. The CT11 battery typically reaches rated 850mAh capacity after three to five full charge and discharge cycles. Each cycle builds the crystalline structure in the cell that stores energy. Run the handset until it signals low battery, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat — talk time will improve with each cycle.
