Polaroid Cosmo L — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (P5026A)
This is a 3.8V, 1900mAh Li-ion battery for the Polaroid Cosmo L smartphone. It replaces OEM part number P5026A and fits the Cosmo L chassis directly. Use it when the original cell no longer holds charge or the phone shuts down unexpectedly under load.
- Cosmo L platform fit: The Cosmo L uses a removable Li-ion cell with a fixed connector pinout and BMS handshake tied to the OEM part number P5026A. This replacement matches that pinout and communicates correctly with the phone's charge IC — no firmware flags or charge inhibit on pairing.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the Cosmo L platform. The BMS accepted the cell without triggering a charge cutoff fault, and voltage under modem load stayed above the 3.4V threshold where sudden shutdowns typically occur.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter to the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still running its algorithm against the old cell's discharge curve. The new cell hits a voltage cliff under modem or screen load — typically around 3.5V — before the reported percentage reaches zero. The phone interprets the voltage drop as a fault and cuts power. One full discharge-charge cycle without fast charging lets the coulomb counter recalibrate, and the shutdowns stop.
OS reporting wrong battery percentage after cell swap
The Cosmo L's fuel gauge IC stores a learned discharge model from the original cell. A new cell with a different impedance profile throws off that model immediately, causing percentage jumps or a reading that stalls at one value for long periods. The fix is a full uninterrupted discharge down to auto-off, followed by a full charge to 100% with the screen on to allow active recalibration. After one complete cycle the percentage tracking stabilises.
