On first installation, the device may flag a low-battery warning even though the cell is not depleted. Running one complete charge cycle after installation allows the BMS to map the new cell's voltage curve and clear the fault.
Rescue Sam not completing boot sequence after battery sits in storage
Li-MnO2 cells self-discharge slowly during storage, but the Rescue Sam's BMS sets a minimum recovery voltage — typically around 10.5V — below which it will not attempt to boot. A battery stored for an extended period may have dropped under this threshold. Connect the battery to the charger before installing it in the device and allow a full charge cycle to bring cell voltage above the BMS recovery floor. Once voltage is restored, the unit will complete its boot sequence normally.
